Legitimacy of Online Pharmacy Companies

An online pharmacy that runs a beautiful website need not be a legitimate pharmacy even though they can sell FDA approved drugs that are manufactured as per safe standards and sold well labeled, packaged or shipped. Secondly, legitimate online pharmacies in one country may not have proper legal status in other geographical areas. Nevertheless, it's wise to be careful before buying medicines from an online pharmacy.

Here are a few pointers to be careful about an online pharmacy’s trustworthiness.
All US based drug stores are required to be registered at respective state board of pharmacies in the state of their location. You can make sure whether one is registered by visiting National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. Every progressive country has similar regulations and here is the list to help you identify a trustworthy online pharmacy.

  1. An Australian online pharmacy is required to register with the Pharmacy Guild of Australia
  2. In the UK, it is mandatory for online pharmacies to be registered with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB)
  3. In Taiwan the registering authority is the Department of Health (DOH)
  4. In Hong Kong the authority that registers an online pharmacy is the Pharmaceutical Service, Department of Health
  5. The authority to register an online pharmacy in New Zealand is the Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand

However, there is more to trustworthiness than legitimacy which is hard to make out unless you use each website’s contact form or toll free number or are prepared to take a one time risk of your money, the ultimate test.
