Stretch Mark Treatments - Which is best for you?

People have different perceptions about stretch marks. Some people think that nothing could be done about it and it is going to be there forever. That’s not true anymore.

Stretch marks usually fade away and even if they don’t, you can live happily with them as they are not easily noticeable if you properly cover them up with appropriate makeup. Laser therapy promises a lot who expect better results. Surgeons determine the type of laser to use depending on the color of the stretch marks. With different lasers, it is possible to completely erase the marks while with other you can stimulate new cell growth.

Laser treatment also stimulates production of collagen which restores skin elasticity which consequently contracts the stretches. This treatment applies to those who grew stretch marks rapidly during puberty and pregnancy due to rapid weight gain.

Blue light therapy is another option for treating stretch marks; here a combination of blue light and a certain gel is used to treat stretch marks.

Another time tested treatment is the use of creams that moisturize, grow elastin and repair collagen. Creams contain a host of things like cocoa butter, lanolin, wheat germ oil and vitamin E. They are effective when used in a stretched position which keeps it soft, smooth and supple. If you used these creams before getting stretched, you could as well prevented stretch marks altogether.

People who get stretch marks are usually those that are genetically predisposed to them. Incidentally, dark skinned people appear to be less prone than people with fairer skin.

Erasing stretch marks by 100% is impossible but a combination of different therapies has worked dramatically in most cases if not eliminate them totally. Nevertheless, they are definitely not a health risk. They're just a blot than a threat.
